I’ve been shopping for women for over 8 years now however in the last 2-3yrs especially, I’ve noticed a real shift in what women are looking to buy. When I first started out, shopping was all about finding those unique, one-off pieces for a special event. These days though, I find that I spend 98% of my time sourcing basic wardrobe staples and honestly, I couldn’t be happier about it because this is what I am most passionate about. I’m a big believer in investing in pieces that you’ll wear over and over again rather than spending big amounts of money on the things you’ll wear just once or twice.

If you’re currently working your way through the #MYEPICSELF Capsule Wardrobe Workbook, you’ll notice a section dedicated to Wardrobe Staples – the items that I believe every woman should own to increase the versatility of their wardrobe. In this post, I’m going to reveal some of my go-to brands for a few of wardrobe staples –

This will come as no surprise to a lot of you. COS is without a doubt, one of my favourite brands. The quality is incredible, the price points are great and they have a huge range of staples including everything from t-shirts, shirts, knits, tailored trousers, jeans, dresses … the list goes on!

When it comes to basic t-shirts, you can’t go past ASOS, in particular their own in-house brands – ASOS Design, ASOS White & ASOS Edition. The price is ridiculously cheap and I’m yet to own a t-shirt of theirs that distorts and loses it’s shape in the wash. I love their high-rise, straight leg jeans and they do beautiful 100% cashmere sweaters.

Aussie brand, Assembly Label are another big favourite of mine. My clients absolutely love their range of t-shirts, shirts & sweaters. And if you’ve got a man in your life, they do great staples for men too!

If budget is a factor for you, than Uniqlo is your best bet. I love so many staples of theirs including their t-shirts (I often purchase these from the mens’ section and size down) and their linen shirts (perfect for those who live in hot, humid climates). I also love their camisoles which are a great v-neck shape but don’t expose too much of the bust and their jeans are fab!

There’s a reason why Sportscraft has been around for over 100 years – the know their stuff when it comes to the fit & quality of garments. Sportscraft are my go-to for tailored shorts and trousers.

If you love stocking up on staples in a heap of different colours, Jac + Jack are brilliant. Their t-shirts are beautiful and their huge selection of shapes & styles is great.

Chosen The Label is the in-house brand of online store Tuchuzy. Whilst I wouldn’t say they are focussed on ‘basics’specifically, they do offer a stunning range of midi skirts, wide leg trousers, denim and slip dresses.
